Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority has announced its inability to give land for the Naya Pakistan Housing Programme requested by the government, according to news sources. The development authority has pleaded that legal clauses hinder the transference of the land to another project.

The housing department had requested for a 2,000-kanal land from the notified land of LDA City located on both sides of the Lahore Ring Road. Provincial Minister Housing, Urban Development & Public Health Engineering Mian Mehmood-ur-Rasheed and Secretary Housing Naseem Sadiq have inspected the land, prior to the request. The department is now looking for alternative land in Harbanspura for NPHP. The director general of LDA City has assured that the land will be used for its original purpose.

In another development, Mian Mehmood-ur-Rasheed has announced that the process of identifying land for the rural housing project has been completed in various provincial districts. Under this project, homeless people will be given low-cost houses (for 50 easy instalments) in a chosen village of each district. The houses developed under this initiative are presently in their final phase of completion.
