Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Thursday (March 17) directed the Punjab government to take legal action against illegal housing societies that risk the investment and lives of people by selling flood plains, according to media reports.

PM Khan chaired a meeting to review the work progress of Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA) and Central Business District (CBD) projects. He went on to say that the unmanaged and unplanned urban sprawl will adversely affect food security as green spaces are being transformed into commercial and residential areas.
Moreover, the premier disclosed that the government is implementing an environment-friendly approach for new projects that will cater to commercial and residential needs along with preserving green areas.

Reportedly, the PM lauded the efforts of the CBD team for setting the revenue record of PKR 57.88 billion through two auctions of commercial plots. He iterated that the RUDA and CBD projects have immense investment opportunities for Pakistanis residing aboard.
