Karachi: Baldia Katchi Abadi Orangi Deputy Director Aqeel Ahmad on Sunday announced the barring of lease and sales activities in Orangi Town’s Gulshan-e-Zia area, after it came to light that some individuals may be involved in the sale of china-cutting plots — according to a news source.

It was further reported that some people were trying to encroach on the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s (KMC) land in the area, and that these individuals had been reported to the anti-corruption department. The development of housing societies and other similar constructions on these lands are illegal.
The KMC now plans on conducting a grand operation to retrieve the public land and help clear the area of all encroachments. The land from Block A to K belongs to the KMC, and the encroachers have been warned of legal action if they persist with their actions.
