In addition to setting up this facility, the authority is also considering to merge the Land Development and Estate Management Directorate. Reportedly, LDA Director General (DG) Ahmed Aziz Tarar had issued the directives to set up territory-wise directorate – after which the LDA committee formed for this purpose finalised the setting up of such a directorate. Furthermore, the Tarar also directed the officials concerned to prepare the working paper on forming the One Directorate.
Moreover, setting up this directorate will remove the changes of LDA directors of different territories (zones) neglecting their respective duties and putting the blame on other directors.

According to the authority’s vice chairman, the One Directorate will initially be set up in one of the city’s zones on experimental basis. As per the LDA committee’s proposal, the building control officer appointed in the One Directorate will be responsible for managing tasks related to commercialisation and recovery of due charges, and the related matters. Additionally, LDA officials representing all zones of Lahore will be members of the directorate’s directorship.
