Lahore: Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Director General (DG) Ahmed Aziz Tarar has announced the civic agency’s decision to draft a master plan for 49 urban settlements in Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib and Kasur, according to a news report published on October 8. The LDA DG also revealed that a new master plan for Lahore will be prepared within the next 18 months.

The director general of the authority made these remarks while talking to the representatives of the three consultants shortlisted for the Lahore master plan preparation. This pre-qualifying consortium includes Dar Al-Hindsa (Lebanon), Mine Heart (Singapore) and National Engineering Services Pakistan – NESPAK (Pakistan).
He also stated that those tasked with the master plan preparation will be extended all required support and information. He added that the said master plan will be prepared while keeping in view the development requirements until 2050.

The objectives of this master plan include environmental protection, preservation of historical heritage, equitable use of resources, promotion of economic activities, and inclusion of all sections of the population in decision making.
