Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has decided to construct an underpass at Gulshan-e-Ravi’s T-Junction near Band Road, news sources reported. The PKR 3.40 billion project will be presented for approval in the Provincial Working Party (PWP) meeting in January.

According to sources, the LDA had originally planned to renovate the T-Junction, but it has since cancelled the proposed project for the underpass. The revised proposal calls for the building of an underpass as well as the widening of Band Road. The underpass will be 470 metres long, with a single-way underpass constructed on the roads leading from Sagian to the Babu Sabu Interchange. According to the LDA, the project is intended to enhance traffic flow on one of the city’s busiest routes, which carries significant traffic and connects two of the city’s busiest areas.

It is also worth noting that the existing Band Road is riddled with potholes, and traffic bottlenecks are common. To ease traffic congestion, the LDA is also planning a dual-lane underpass at Samanabad Chowk, which would minimise traffic pressure arriving and going towards Gulshan-e-Ravi.
