Lahore: Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Chief Engineer Mazhar Hussain on Sunday (December 05) announced that the city’s three underpass and flyover projects will be completed by February 2022, which is a month ahead of schedule, news sources reported.

The three projects include Gulab Devi Underpass, Sheranwala Gate Flyover (Data Ganj Baksh Flyover) and Shahkam Flyover project. According to the reports, the chief engineer stated that construction work on all projects is ahead of schedule and that all projects would be completed within the time frame specified and will help ease traffic difficulties in the city.

Mr Hussain stated that the construction of the Gulab Devi Underpass is nearly complete, with the project set to open to traffic on December 20 following renovation work. Furthermore, the PKR 5 billion Data Ganj Baksh Flyover at Sheranwala Gate would be completed by the end of January, with 55 % of the construction work done. The initiative is expected to relieve traffic congestion in the Azam Cloth Market, Shah Alam Market, Akbari, and other neighbouring locations. Similarly, Shahkam Flyover Project Director Haroon Saifi said that the PKR 4.23 billion worth flyover project is also 55 % complete and will be opened for traffic by February 15. It is important to note that all three road infrastructure projects were launched in June after the LDA completed the tendering process and awarded the projects.
