Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has decided to survey nine model roads, specified hospitals and megastores to determine if parking spaces were being compromised or used for other activities, according to news published on April 11.

It was highlighted that the said move was made to ensure the implementation of public parking rules and regulations. The survey will be executed by Chief Town Planner, LDA and the Traffic Engineering & Transport Planning Agency (TEPA), and these authorities will serve legal notices to parties not vacating parking areas in three days.

The LDA decided to conduct this survey for parking spaces during a meeting of the Review Committee of Building and Zoning Regulations, which was attended by officials of departments including LDA, Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) and Lahore Parking Company. During the meeting, the Lahore Parking Company also introduced a digital system for charging parking fees. The company informed the meeting that an agreement has been inked between a bank, under which three out of the total 174 Lahore Parking Company’s sites will be digitised.
Moreover, LDA Chief Engineer-I reported that patchwork has been initiated on all the model roads and PHA has issued as many as 5,000 notices to illegal structures on greenbelts.
