As per details, the initiative aims to beautify and expand the city’s main gateway, enhancing convenience for commuters traveling between the Motorway and Multan Road. LDA Director General Tahir Farooq recently visited the Thokar Niaz Baig site, where LDA Chief Engineer Asrar Saeed, alongside NESPAK officers, presented the proposed design. Chief Engineer Saeed outlined that the project would commence shortly, focusing on repairing and maintaining the key entrance to the city. The redesign will include asphalt resurfacing, lane marking, the installation of new signage, and extensive beautification efforts. Additionally, the footpaths will be widened and expanded to accommodate increased pedestrian traffic. The project is expected to significantly ease congestion, offering a smoother flow of vehicles into and out of Lahore. DG Tahir Farooq emphasised the importance of upgrading the signage to assist citizens in navigating the area more efficiently. In a related development, DG Farooq visited the LDA One Window Cell to evaluate the progress of applications processed within the last 24 hours. Expressing dissatisfaction with the delays in file processing, he made it clear that such inefficiencies would not be tolerated. DG Farooq subsequently convened a meeting with all directors of housing to address the performance issues at the One Window Cell. He stressed that directors of housing and town planning would be held accountable for any backlog within their respective departments.
