Lahore: To promote business activities in the city through the construction of high-rise buildings, the Lahore Development Authority has prepared a draft on new bylaws offering ‘free height’ permission to real estate developers, a news source reported on January 12. The draft proposes amendments in the bylaws of ‘area development project’.

Once implemented, the developers would be able to construct up to 300-feet high buildings in certain areas of Lahore. For this purpose, approval from the Civil Aviation Authority will be mandatory. The draft proposes permitting construction of 300-feet tall buildings on roads with a width of 60 feet and above.

The news source further claims that the LDA has decided to form a scrutiny committee that will refer the area development cases to the governing body. The committee will be led by the LDA director general. Its members will include officials from LDA Town Planning, Traffic Engineering and Planning Agency, Water and Sanitation Agency and members of the Lahore Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
