The Lahore Development Authority has thorough plans to probe into the matters related to land abuse and allotment after it discovered some serious irregularities in some major housing societies initiated decades back.
The step has been taken after a number of complaints were received about massive frauds from private people as well as insiders, committed by concerned officials abetting with land grabbers and property dealers. The situation is worsening in various schemes including Sabzazar, Gulshan-i-Ravi, Mustafa Town and Johar Town. The LDA officials have planned to carry out land-use survey and audits in order to reach those who are doing all this and causing financial loss not just for the buyers and sellers but for the authority as well.
DG LDA has directed the officials to conduct a land-use survey in Sabzazar Scheme to dig out the truth. During an inquiry it is found, officials in connivance with private parties manage to either reduce or increase the sizes of plots at the time of giving possession to the allotees or buyers. Due to these elements, the excess allotment of developed plots is done to those whose land was acquired by LDA at the time of development of the scheme. A similar type of fraud was also committed years ago in Gulshan-e-Ravi scheme.
The official disclosed that LDA administration has also ordered to conduct audit of this scheme as well for which a private consultancy company will be hired. A couple of months ago, LDA officials have also undertaken Mustafa Town Scheme’s record. The scheme has also become a victim of con men who committed massive irregularities while making allotments to the buyers.
Seeing the irregularities, the LDA administration finally decided to either terminate or suspend the officials found guilty of such activities, besides getting criminal cases registered against them.
