Lahore: Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Director General (DG) Sameer Ahmad Syed has directed the officials concerned to work on introducing an online system for the approval of new layout plans and building construction permissions – a news source reported.

Syed was speaking at a meeting to discuss the launch of online system for LDA under the World Bank’s ‘Ease-of-Doing-Business Programme. He stated that the authority should work to improve the ease-of-doing-business initiative in order to meet the requirements of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme.
He further said that a mechanism should be established to facilitate the LDA in its inspection of residential and commercial buildings developed by private builders so that the civic agency could issue completion certificates.

He added that challans for the purpose of applying for completion certificate should also be issued online. The meeting also discussed the proposal to have the buildings inspected by architects before issuing them the relevant certificates.
