Lahore: To control illegal construction activities, Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has decided to form a Building Control Vigilance Cell (BCVC), reported a news source. The cell will collect data on all legal and illegal buildings, in order to pursue further action.
The decision was based on reports of construction activities being carried out without valid LDA NOCs. Reportedly, LDA’s Town Planning Wing had so far been ineffective in controlling illegal construction activities. This paved the way for the formation of BCVC.
LDA Headquarters Additional Director General Rana Abdul Shakoor will monitor the activities of the cell. Reportedly, the Water and Sanitation Authority officers transferred to the LDA will perform their new duties in the cell.
BCVC will conduct daily surveys in all zones across the city. This will help LDA keep an eye out for any ongoing construction activities. Based on the survey results, BCVC will take legal actions against the developers carrying out unauthorized constructions.
