Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Sardar Usman Buzdar has issued directives to the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) for the construction of another underpass facility at the Kareem Block Market, according to news sources.

Reportedly, the civic authority has prepared an initial design for the project; which will see to the development of the said underpass at the Wahdat Road – Karim Block junction. According to sources, the LDA is keen on making noticeable infrastructural development decisions to resolve the area’s traffic congestion concerns.

Recently, the CM also laid the foundation stone for the Firdous Market Underpass project, estimated to be constructed under a development budget of PKR 1.09 billion. LDA Chief Engineer Habib-ul-Haq Randhawa is currently overseeing the tender opening process. The authority has also notified its decision to establish the Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA) with an aim to facilitate the provision of affordable housing in the city.
