Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has announced its decision to convert Ferozepur Road into a signal-free corridor and prepared the design to construct a protected U-turn on the frequented Qainchi and Walton stops in Lahore, according to a news report published on December 30.

According to the details revealed, both Qainchi Flyover and Walton Road will be transformed into a signal-free corridor. Under this plan, a new road and a protected U-turn will be constructed, for which land will be acquired on the Ferozepur Road. The LDA has already contacted firms that specialize in constructing signal-free corridors.

The cost estimate for this signal-free corridor under Qainchi Flyover is PKR 57.3 million and a timeline of two months has been communicated for the project completion. Reportedly, the tender for this construction will be given to three firms concerned with asphalt carpeting.
