Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has decided to place a ban on property transfers pursued by owners who fail to pay their due commercialisation fees, a news source reported. According to the statistics shared by the development authority, it has yet to recover PKR 1.25 billion in pending commercialisation fees from defaulters.

To recover the dues, the authority will prohibit commercialisation fee defaulters from selling their properties and/or transferring them in someone else’s name. LDA Director General (DG) Usman Moazzam recently shared the standard operating procedures (SOPs) in relation to these proceedings, according to which owners cannot transfer their properties without clearing their fees with the authority first.

DG Moazzam has instructed the LDA Directorates for Commercialisation and Recovery to prepare listings of people defaulting on commercialisation fees. In turn, these lists will be provided to the LDA Land Development Directorate — and also forwarded to the staff deployed at the LDA One-Window Cell. In addition, property-transfer application documents submitted by the defaulters will now bear the comments of relevant LDA officials regarding the status of their pending dues.
