Lahore: The caretaker government has directed the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) to find ways for increasing commercial activities on all major roads that had been declared ‘frozen’ earlier, according to a news report. The statement has come from the Caretaker Punjab Minister for Housing Saeedullah Babar.
Almost 8,000 illegal commercial buildings have been established along major roads causing traffic congestion. A news source reported that commercial activities are only allowed on roads such as Jail Road, Ferozepur Road, Multan Road, Mall, MM Alam, Hali Road, Stadium Road, main boulevards, Wapda Town, and the road from Doctors’ Hospital to Expo Centre, but not allowed on others. He also added that the LDA is entertaining permanent applications but not temporary.
The minister has also underlined the need for rationalising and modifying building regulations to avoid any problems later.
