Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has decided to take stricter action against illegal housing schemes, a news source reported. The civic body wants strict implementation of rules related to such schemes in order to guard public interest.

LDA Director General Muhammad Usman Moazam has instructed the officials concerned to take strict action against the illegal housing schemes. He has also directed the LDA officials to run an effective awareness campaign to educate the public about the fraudulent techniques deployed by such housing projects.
Additionally, Moazam instructed the LDA officials to keep up to date with the ongoing cases against illegal housing schemes. He added that they should take all possible measures to protect the life savings of innocent citizens.

LDA had created a committee for taking action against illegal housing schemes in February. This committee is responsible for taking actions against unauthorised constructions and private housing schemes under LDA’s jurisdiction. The said actions would be taken under the LDA Act 1975, LDA Building and Zoning Regulations 2007, LDA Private Housing Scheme Rules 2014, and any other applicable law.
