Lahore: Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Vice Chairman S M Imran recently announced that the civic agency would simplify its process concerning the approvals for high-rises, a news source reported. He also invited stakeholders to provide their suggestions with regard to the building by-laws and assured them that their inputs would be given due consideration.

He expressed these views during a meeting of the committee formed to encourage multi-storey building structures. LDA Director General Usman Moazzam, Association of Builders and Developers (ABAD) Lead Engineer Akbar Sheikh, Architect Khalid Abdul Rehman, Council of Architects Vice-Chairman Khurram Farid, Environmental Expert Aleem Butt, Senior Traffic Officer Asif Khan, Chief Metropolitan Planner Nadeem Akhtar Zaidi, Chief Town Planner Tariq Mahmood, along with members of Municipality, Housing, Waste and Sanitation Agency (WASA) and the National Engineering Services Pakistan (NESPAK), were all present at the occasion.
The LDA vice chairman said that the authority wanted to facilitate the citizens in all possible ways. He added that there was room for betterment in the constructional laws to facilitate modern constructional pursuits and urbanisation.

The participants were informed that the new building zones would be defined according to the height of the structures within, and would consist of various amenities; including water supply and sewerage systems. Moreover, the roof-top gardening concept would be introduced in these multi-storey building zones.
