Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has shared the latest updates on the development work being conducted on the Firdous Market Underpass project — with 710 out of 880 piles having (so far) been constructed, and the construction of a roof over the underpass to be completed during the ongoing month — a news source reported on Sunday (July 5).

In addition, LDA Director General Ahmad Aziz Tarar has issued instructions to complete all the development work for the project within the pre-set timelines, even if it requires hiring labour for night shifts. The process for the provision of services by the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) and the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) will also be completed within 15 days.

In related news, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar paid a surprise visit to the Firdous Market underpass project on the same day. On the occasion, he stated that he was personally monitoring the progress of the project, and asked for it to be completed on time. He also mentioned that he would be revisiting the project t site again in order to inspect the progress of the construction work being conducted there.
