Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has notified a checklist for investors interested in purchasing properties in private housing schemes in the city, according to a post published on the civic agency’s official Facebook page on November 25.
As per the authority, the aim of the catalogue is to prevent fraudulent real estate practices which involve, but is not limited to, luring citizens into investing in fake projects.

What document should you check for while buying plots in private housing schemes?
Below is the checklist one should follow while buying plots in private housing schemes:
- Approved map/layout plan of the housing project concerned
- List of total plots in the scheme concerned and a categorised list of plots based on sizes and types
- Investor should check if the property he (or she) intends to buy is included in the approved layout map of the housing scheme and lies within the acquired land
- Investor should check to see if their chosen plot is mortgaged to LDA/other development authority concerned
- The plots aren’t completely or partially located on the land dedicated for public amenities (school, healthcare unit, graveyard, community centre etc.)
- Make sure that the housing scheme is offering the amenities approved in the approved layout plan
- Make sure that the project isn’t being investigated by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) or any other department

Moreover, if anyone wants to confirm the approval status of the housing scheme, they can approach LDA One Window Cell’s counter number 22 from 8 am to 1 pm or visit LDA’s official website.
The authority has urged public to seek details of civic amenities, land acquisition, possession, project delivery timeline, and payable amount from private housing schemes.
