Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has shared its annual report on development projects completed in the city, as well as progress reports on the LDA City and LDA Avenue-I Housing Scheme, a news source reported.

As per the shared statistics, the LDA delivered on its promise of allotting plots to LDA City file holders and provided possessions to several LDA Avenue-I plot owners. The development authority allocated plot numbers against some 9,700 plot files in nine months as per the directives of Supreme Court, while plot possession was offered to a total of 623 property owners in LDA Avenue-I.

Moreover, the civic agency stated that it had initiated development work in LDA City Jinnah Sector (Phase I) that spans 13,000 kanals at a cost of PKR 3 billion.
The development authority also spent PKR 600 million on the rehabilitation of 46 roads in the city and initiated the construction of ‘Bab-e-Lahore’ near Thokar Niaz Baig at a cost of PKR 250 million. It also completed development work at the Orange Line Metro Train track and arranged for the project’s trial run.

The civic body also formed Land Rule Use 2019 in coordination with stakeholders for the new commercialisation policy in order to promote the construction of high-rise buildings in Lahore. This is in addition to the clean and green campaign launched during the year and the finalisation of an MoU with a private firm for development of Miyawaki Forest in Liberty Market.

The development authority also completed rehabilitation of a couple of underpasses on Canal Road, retrieved land worth hundreds of million rupees from the local land mafia and launched a crackdown against 175 illegal housing schemes in the city.
