The authority decided to fund the projects following a reduction in development funds from the Punjab Finance Department for the construction of the Karim Block Underpass due to budget constraints. The LDA will now allocate PKR 10 billion for the project to ease traffic flow at a vital traffic congestion point. The project includes the construction of an underpass for the traffic coming and going from Maulana Shaukat Ali Road to Jedda Chowk.

The LDA had previously awarded a feasibility study contract to National Engineering Services Pakistan (NESPAK).
It is important to mention here that the construction of the Karim Block Underpass was originally approved by the Punjab government in 2018 with an allocated budget of PKR 14 billion. However, the Punjab Finance Department reduced the development fund to PKR 10 billion due to budget constraints.
