30 kanals in Block C of Johar town has been retrieved by the Estate Management Directorate of the Lahore Development Authority (LDA). According to the resource, the land is retrieved from some gypsy families who were not willing for the eviction and resisted it.
LDA declared that retrieved land will be used for public welfare projects. The gypsies hurled stones at police and LDA officials. Therefore police used tear gas to disperse them.
The Estate Management Wing Director of LDA, Noman Khan, told that the LDA would file a case against all these people for resisting the operation. He further said that more land would be retrieved in Johar Town in the coming days.
This is not all. Dozens of gypsies protested against the LDA officials for eviction and on manhandling them. They asked the Chief Minister to take strict action against all officials involved in this operation.
