Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has proposed to increase height limits for residential constructions in a bid to promote apartment culture in the city, reported a news source.
For this purpose, the civic authority has formed a draft document, which contains proposals with regard to amendments in building by-laws.

LDA’s Metropolitan Planning Wing has prepared the draft in consultation with urban-planning experts and private stakeholders. As per the recommendations communicated in the document, the civic agency seeks to raise the height limit for residential constructions of all categories in accordance with the prime ministers’ vision for high-rise developments.
The draft would be submitted to the LDA Governing Body for final approval. The recommendations include:
- Construction of ground + 3 floors on plots measuring 10 marlas; with 50ft height limit
- Construction of ground + 6 floors on plots measuring one kanal; with 90ft height limit
- Construction of ground + 9 floors on 2-kanal plots; with 120ft height limit
- Construction of ground + 15 (or more) floors on 4-kanal plots; with 200ft height limit
- Construction of ground + 20 (or more) floors on 8-kanal plots; with 300ft height limit
- Minimum plot size required for skyscraper’s construction should not exceed 12 kanals
