As part of its ongoing operation against illegal housing societies, the LDA took action against 19 projects located on Ferozpur Road and Bedian Road, and declared them illegal.
The city developer has so far registered cases against eight private housing schemes under Section 35 of the LDA Act 1975. Earlier, the authority had sealed their site offices, and demolished the roads and other infrastructure constructed by their developers.
The authority has also issued a warning that the sponsors of illegal housing projects can face a three-year prison sentence.
The authority also inspected a number of commercial plazas in the Gulberg area to check their availability of fire-safety installations, and directed them to make proper arrangements.
