Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) offices have begun preparing a contingency plan to deal with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, a news source reported. LDA Director General (DG) Ahmed Aziz Tarrar has ordered for taking necessary measures to combat the ongoing breakout of the coronavirus infection.

As part of these measures, LDA has established a control room to handle the complaints registered by the public. The civic body has appealed to the public not to visit LDA offices for complaints and have provided contact numbers instead. Meanwhile, officials concerned are also disinfecting the LDA offices.
Addressing a recent meeting, Tarrar directed officials to conduct thermal screening of all employees at the gates of the authority’s offices. He added that medical staff, guards and other relevant officials and employees should receive safety masks. He asked to postpose all official events and conduct official meetings only in case of emergencies.

Tarrar further directed strict safety measures implementation against the coronavirus infection in all three LDA offices, schools and the parking plazas. While pointing out the special cleaning of all offices, he added that ambulance should be kept ready at all times.
On the matter of daily wagers working on various LDA developmental projects, Tarrar issued orders to provide them salaries without delay. The authority has closed off public entry to its offices, one window cell, six schools, day care centre, hockey stadium, and sports complex. Also, the offices are no longer carrying out the biometric attendance system for the employees.

LDA has reduced the number of daily workers in its offices – establishing a rotational system. The civic body has directed all its employees to strictly follow the rotation, stay in contact on mobile when required and not leave the city without permission of the authority.
