The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has decided to remodel the Ghous-e-Azam Underpass Jail Road to make it signal free and ease traffic flow towards Jallo Morr, news sources reported. The authority has allocated PKR 760 million for the project and the final approval will be taken in the Provincial Working Party meeting to be held later in July.

The decision was taken due to the strategic flaws in the underpass that resulted in a few fatal accidents. According to the details, all of Canal Road’s underpasses are on the right side, except for the Ghous-e-Azam underpass, which is on the left

Due to inconvenience caused to traffic by the underpass’s placement, the Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has directed that the Jail Road underpass be remodelled to ease the traffic flow and prevent future accidents. For this purpose, the land will be acquired, and the underpass’s left lane will be modified to a signal-free U-turn. The project is also added to the annual development plans of the 2021-22 budget.
