Lahore: Lahore Development Authority (LDA), Synergy, and Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for establishing Miyawaki forests in Lahore, according to news published on January 16.

According to the terms of the agreement, the LDA will collaborate with PHA and the private sector represented by Synergy to establish Miyawaki forests in the city. The initial phase will witness the LDA initiating the planting of Miyawaki forests within its societies, with the plantation drive slated to commence next month.

Under the provisions of the MoU, the PHA will assume responsibility for the maintenance and care of these newly established forests. During the signing ceremony, Lahore Commissioner and LDA DG Muhammad Ali Randhawa emphasized the pivotal role that the forests will play in mitigating smog and curbing environmental pollution in the provincial capital. He underscored the ongoing efforts in promoting greenery within the city through various plantation initiatives.
