Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA)’s Governing Body on Monday endorsed a decision taken in 2006 to construct a 400-foot-tall building on the Mall Road at the site of an international hotel, according to news sources. A formal decision to this effect was taken during the seventh meeting of the said group presided over by LDA Vice Chairman S.M Imran.

For this proposed initiative, a high-level committee (overseen by Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar) would approve the building plan. This blueprint will be formed in accordance with the building regulations specified for the Upper Mall, which is a controlled area.
Previously, the Privatisation Commission had requested the government in 2006 to grant relaxation in the rules governing the construction of a hotel at this site. The LDA Governing Body has now granted its official approval pertaining to the height limit of the building.
