Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) is preparing plans to pedestrianise M M Alam Road in order to reduce traffic and ease public mobility, according to news published on Friday (March 18).

As per the details, the government has decided to beautify and remodel some areas of M M Alam Road and Main Boulevard in Gulberg. The LDA is preparing designs for the roads in collaboration with public and private sector experts. It was disclosed that the authority is working on several proposals to transform the areas as per international standards.
Moreover, LDA plans to remove encroachments, improve the façade of buildings, enhance security, bring uniformity in signage, place benches, improve sewerage system, and install modern streetlights (LED). Under the plan, Gulberg Main Boulevard will have adequate plantation, walking, and sitting spaces. The encroachments on footpaths, service roads, and buildings setback areas will be removed.

Reportedly, the LDA plans to place benches in between the landscapes to prevent air pollution, which will help make the area pedestrian-friendly. The owners of buildings in these areas were also asked to help LDA in this regard. The owners were requested to maintain spaces in front of their buildings after remodeling.
