Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) recently announced its decision to reopen its one window cell to the public — with this initiative being taken in light of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s recent directives to boost the country’s construction sector, according to news sources. This development is expected to facilitate the approval of building plans, requests for alterations in existing structures, and the commercialization process.
The following are the operational protocols for the LDA’s one window facility amid the threat of the coronavirus pandemic:

- The one-window cell will remain open between 10 am and 2 pm.
- Prior to visiting the facility, the citizens will be required to make online appointments at the special portal (www.lda.gop.pk) launched for this purpose.
- The applicants will receive appointment confirmation SMSs, which they will have to show to enter the LDA offices. The citizens will only be allowed to visit the facility at the given time and will be required to bring all needed documents for their appointments.
- The staff will record the visitor’s temperatures. Those with a body temperature above 100.4 Fahrenheit will not be allowed to enter the premises.
- The visitors who are late or do not have the online token will be guided about the process to obtain one at the office of Assistant Director One Window Cell (OWC).
- Seniors and differently-abled people will be allowed to be accompanied by an individual to provide assistance.

- The applicants will also be required to wear masks, gloves, walk through a sanitization gate, and maintain social distance within the premises.
- The applications for LDA Avenue-I and LDA City will also be received at the one window cell.
- The replies to the submitted applications will be uploaded online to save people from making another trip.
Reportedly, the provincial government has provided its conditional approval to the offices of the urban development wings of various development authorities to resume operations — albeit with the condition that all previously communicated standard operating procedures (SOPs) are strictly maintained.
