Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has started an operation against illegal housing societies in the city, reported a news source. During its latest crackdown, a team from the LDA Metropolitan Planning Wing razed a road in Phase 2 of a society on Raiwind Road, known well among short-term investors.
A similar operation was carried out in another illegal housing scheme on the same road. LDA staff demolished the society’s site office. Reportedly, these two private housing schemes have been operating without relevant NOCs.
These LDA operations are in line with Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar’s vision to make the civic authority a respectable institution. Chairing a meeting of LDA’s new board of directors held yesterday, Buzdar said that he aims to make LDA’s operations compatible with the demands of the present day. He also said that the authority’s prime objective is to provide relief to the people and arrange for residential facilities.
