Lahore: In a drive launched against illegal housing schemes, Lahore Development Authority demolished built structures and infrastructural developments in nine housing schemes located inside District Kasur; reported a news source. The operation was carried out by LDA’s Metropolitan Planning Wing and Directorate of Estate Management.
The housing schemes where LDA officials razed roads, site offices, sewerage channels and other built structures include Saif City, Gulberg Valley, Al-Karam Garden, New Illahabad City, Ayub Villas, Anwar Villas, Fatima City, and Al-Badar Garden.
On the same day, an operation against encroachers was also launched in Daroghawala on the order of the Lahore deputy commissioner. In this effort, the city district government razed 15 shades and 57 permanent structures built along several footpaths in the area.
In a similar drive carried out in Ravi Zone Data Ganj Bakhsh Zone, Iqbal Zone, Wahga Zone and Aziz Bhatti Zone, the municipal corporation staff confiscated a number of encroached items – and locked the trucks carrying them in designated stores.
