Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA)’s Town Planning Wing is set to commence the test run of online maps’ approval in May 2024, as per a news source. This information was conveyed to LDA Director General (DG) Tahir Farooq during a meeting held on April 19 aimed at streamlining the maps’ approval process for the business community.
For online map approval, the LDA is partnering with JS Bank (Zindagi). The meeting attendees were also informed that the Town Planning Wing’s e-library containing prototype maps will be completed soon. Addressing the meeting, the DG stressed the importance of monitoring the time taken to obtain NOCs from various departments.

Furthermore, the meeting reviewed the performance of the Town Planning Wing, which included the issuance of over 3,500 residential building plans, 450 commercial plans, handling 230 commercialization cases, and issuing 530 completion certificates in the last six months. It was reported that the Town Planning Wing has also taken action against 1,800 properties for illegal construction and commercialization.
Regarding illegal construction activity, the DG instructed LDA officials to demolish illegally constructed structures and disconnect their water connections. DG Farooq also instructed the LDA to expedite the operation against commercial fee defaulters.
