Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA), through a notice circulated in a local daily on Thursday (September 17), notified the general public of its jurisdiction in matters relating to land-use conversions.

The notice, specifically, cautions the public regarding the authority’s exclusive jurisdiction pertaining to matters of land-use conversions in Sheikhupura, Kasur and Nankana Sahib as per LDA Act 1975 and Notification No SOR (LG) 38-2/2004 issued on January 23, 2014; further communicating the following pointers:
- Tehsil Municipal Administrations (TMAs) or other simple public institutes do not have jurisdiction in matters of commercialisation or land-use conversion.
- The Government of Punjab, through Gazette Notification Number SO (H-II)3-2/2016, issued on August 6, 2020, has notified LDA Land-use Rules 2020; which have made commercialisation ‘significantly easier’ in a bid to improve ease of doing business.
- Following on the above development, the notification requests the public to have their properties legally converted into commercial entities through the said ‘convenient’ process; and thereby avoid any ‘future issues as well as legal action’.
