Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has notified the implementation of ‘Land Use Rules 2020’ by making amendments in the existing Building and Zoning Rules and Private Housing Schemes Rules framework, a news source reported on August 19.

After the implementation of these improved rules, the issue of commercialisation of frozen road will be resolved. To this effect, a new committee has been constituted for the frozen roads under the supervision of LDA Director General Zahid Akthar Zaman.
Moreover, the amended rules reveal that the process to obtain approval for marquee structures is also chalked out to facilitate the businesses. In addition, the amended rules have also allowed the establishment of petrol pumps in the LDA-controlled areas.

Other amendments include an exemption to non-profit organisations (NGOs) from presenting their bank transaction records of the past three years. Also, the authority has approved the establishment of a special development zone for property owners who own land sizing between 24 kanals and 200 kanals.
Furthermore, LDA Vice Chairman S M Imran said that the authority has established a committee to facilitate the citizens in following these amended rules – so as to avoid any ambiguity or unlawful developments.
