Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) issued a notification to the citizens on Monday (June 27) to vacate old residential and commercial buildings ahead of the monsoon season. The notification in this regard was issued in the leading newspapers.

According to the notice, the authority has urged citizens to follow the given recommendations in order to prevent any unpleasant situations during the monsoon, which is likely to begin in the first week of July. The following are some of the recommendations issued:
- Do not reside in old and worn-out residential buildings
- Excavation should be avoided in and around old or under-constructed buildings
- Repair any leakages in roofs and make sure that rainwater has a proper drainage system
- Do not dispose of debris in floodwater channels

Furthermore, the LDA has ordered inhabitants and owners of buildings that have been repeatedly warned about their deteriorating and structurally unsound condition to demolish such structures before the start of the monsoon season. Failing to comply with these instructions would result in legal action.
