Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA)’s Town Planning Wing is looking to reclassify remaining residential plots in Gulberg as commercial, news sources reported on October 19.
The neighbourhood is already being exclusively referred to as the city’s main commercial and business hub. Developments like the Central Business District is among such plans to make Gulberg the city’s official downtown area for corporate and commercial activities.
As per the sources within the LDA, the authority will conduct traffic studies and related research in order to make this expansion sustainable. Reportedly, the final decision on the reclassification of residential plots will be based on the findings of these studies.
It is important to mention here that work is already underway to make the entire Gulberg Main Boulevard signal-free – as a part of the plan to give signal-free access to the Central Business District.
