Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has formed a motorcycle squad to identify illegal construction activities in the city, reported a news source. The squad will comprise 50 officials divided into five teams. Each of these teams will have their own managing deputy director.
The teams will patrol the city to identify all instances of illegal construction activity. In addition, they will also record any existing civic issues.
The squad will identify and report any issues related to sewerage blockage, broken roads, broken water lines, and waste disposal to the officials concerned. The purpose of this exercise is to effectively fix ground infrastructural concerns faced by the city’s residents.
Speaking to the motor squad recruits, LDA Director General Amna Imran Khan stated that the squad has to serve as ‘the eyes and ears’ for the development authority. The team members will be tasked to help resolve civic issues, and create a good image for the regulatory body.
For their unique identification as members of the squad, the teams will wear blue and green jackets. The squad members will also have the legal right to inspect and check development work at construction sites.
