Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has decided to launch the Mohalnwal Housing Scheme infrastructure improvement project, news sources reported on November 6.

The said project has finally commenced after a 15-year wait. The LDA has approved PKR 870.14 million for Project Concept-1 (PC-1) for the whole project, which would include the construction of a road network, infrastructure enhancements, water supply schemes, and sewage system rehabilitation. As per the reports, the LDA’s governing body has already authorised the project, and work is scheduled to begin by the end of this year. The following projects will be executed under the approved PC-1:
- PKR 260.83 million will be spent on the road infrastructure development of the housing scheme
- PKR 140.76 million will be used for the sewage system upgrade
- PKR 70.8 million will be spent on the development of an overhead water supply tank
- PKR 45 million will be spent on two water supply tubewells
- PKR 20.55 million will be spent on the development of a new water supply system

As per the sources, the LDA will complete the whole project with its own resources and will not ask for funds from the Punjab government.
