Lahore: Sixteen joint teams of Lahore Development Authority (LDA) and Urban Unit have been formed to begin the survey of the city for the formulation of the city commercialisation policy and LDA Master Plan 2040, a news source reported. LDA aims to reduce traffic issues and curb disorganised construction.
The report for the survey will be presented before the Supreme Court. The apex court had ordered the two agencies to conduct the survey earlier this month. Digital data is being gathered for each property. The survey teams will gather data on whether the bylaws are being followed and whether parking facilities have been made available.
A meeting chaired by Commissioner Lahore also took place regarding the LDA Master Plan 2040. The participants of the meeting included renowned architect Kamil Khan Mumtaz, development researcher Raza Ali, Almas Haider, Nadeem ul Haq, LDA Director General (DG) Aamna Imran Khan, and a number of high officials from Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), and Traffic Engineering & Planning Agency (TEPA).
The current master plan of Lahore is only applicable till 2021 and these meetings aim to update it, keeping the demands of the population and sustainability in mind. It is also planned that Kasur, Nankana, and Sheikhupura will be included in LDA Master Plan 2040.
