The new notification has approved a 20% increase in flyovers and underpasses projects as well as a 16% increase in local bodies’ development budget. The government of Punjab has recently hiked the prices of construction material in the province citing similar reasons of dollar to rupee parity and the higher import and energy prices. The price hike is likely to increase the overall construction costs for the housing sector.
