Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) on Thursday (September 17) finalised the draft of the Land Use Rules 2020 notified earlier for the promotion of construction activity in the city, a news source reported. These regulations are expected to be presented before the LDA governing body for final approval.

The meeting to finalise the Land Use Rules 2020 was chaired by LDA Director General Ahmed Aziz Tarar, while notable officials representing the LDA attended the meeting. Reportedly, the LDA sought suggestion from the experts and members of the civil society for finalizing these rules.
As per the draft shared earlier by the LDA, Lahore has been divided into 10 categories: commercial, residential, mixed-use, institutional, industrial, agriculture, special development zone, peri-urban, open space and recreational, and notified areas. The development authority also gave details on what kind of constructions would be allowed in areas following under the specified 10 categories.

The Land Use Rules 2020 specifically mentioned that areas designated for industrial use could not be using for storing, preparing, cleaning, producing, or packing of fireworks, nitro compounds, dynamite, gun power, sulphur, gasses and all items that fall in the category of combustibles.
