Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) on Saturday notified the establishment of the Ravi Urban Development Agency (RUDA), a news source reported. The civic agency had resumed the work on establishing RUDA under Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision of providing affordable housing facilities.

The final decision to establish the agency had been taken earlier this month and now LDA has issued the formal notification. The Ravi Urban Development Agency has been established under LDA Act 1975. The agency’s task involves rehabilitation of the Ravi River to fresh perennial water body. It will also develop water front urban areas on the reclaimed lands.

The agency has been assigned a total of 33 functions and powers, the most important ones of which include the development of the Ravi Riverfront Urban Development project as well the preparation of the master plan for the city.
RUDA will also manage and engineer traffic in the new city.
