Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has extended an invitation to all real estate stakeholders, in addition to academics, working professionals and members of the general public, to participate in its seminar on ‘Land Use Rules-2019’, according to news sources. At this session, the attendees will be able to make queries and provide their feedback on the new regulations.
This seminar is to be held on the November 11 (Monday), at LDA Sports Complex, located at 467-D-II, Main Boulevard, Khyaban-e-Firdousi Road, Johar Town.
The LDA’s need for new regulations stems from the mushroom growth in illegal commercial activities, and to upgrade the legislative framework in order to meet the changing demands of the city.

Aside from being responsible for the planning and development of the city, LDA is also responsible for formulating the regulations pertaining to land use and building control. The new draft rules have been devised in light of the fact that commercial development in Lahore has surpassed previous predictions. This has caused people to use residential land for commercial activities, and thus led to need for new regulatory controls.

These haphazard commercial structures aren’t developed under any coherent strategy and can now be observed along the major roads of planned residential areas and arterial roads of the metropolitan. This unplanned growth has resulted in an acute lack of parking space, increased energy usage, burdening the utility sector, increased air/ noise pollution, and has affected the traffic-bearing capacity of roads leading to undue congestion.
