Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has decided to introduce a ‘Systems Applications and Products in Data Processing (SAP)’ utility – an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system – for improving its operational efficiency, a news source reported.

LDA Director General (DG) Sumair Ahmad Syed said that the SAP system would enhance staff efficiency, improve services delivery, optimise the use of financial resources, and enhance decision-making. The officials will prepare fresh software manuals and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to streamline departmental activities, render payment methods easy, and secure services’ records, he added.

He further stated that the authority had constituted a six-member committee under the leadership of LDA headquarters DG; which comprises director finance, director administration, director computer services, director coordination, and software experts.

The committee has been tasked with ensuring the smooth transition from the current system to the SAP-based advanced automation solution. The administrative and financial affairs will be executed through the SAP software in line with international standards, he said.

Previously, the civic agency had announced its decision to launch smart cards and a mobile application to enhance the efficiency of its business activity. For this purpose, the civic agency had planned to collaborate with the National Database & Registration Authority (NADRA).
