Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA), in collaboration with an international beverage company, announced the launch of a tree plantation drive on Thursday at the Finance and Trade Centre (FTC), a news source reported. The authority and the international beverage brand expressed concerns about the harmful impact of climate change, and said they wanted to play their role in countering it.

General Manager Coco-Cola Pakistan and Afghanistan Rizwan U Khan spoke at the event. He said that effects of climate change could already be felt, and were causing problems in conserving our natural resources. Environmental degradation has become a very real issue, and is a threat to environmental sustainability.

He said he believes it is the duty of every citizen and corporation to support the government’s Clean and Green Pakistan project by planting trees to counter deforestation, which has been escalating with every passing day.
