Lahore: Following the completion of the rainwater harvesting project on Lawrence Road, the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has announced its decision to install two additional rainwater harvesting systems in the city, a news source reported on August 7. The authority has approved the two new projects – having a collective capacity of 2.7 million gallons of water – at a cost of PKR 240 million.

LDA will install the two rainwater harvesting systems at Bismillah Park in Tajpura and outside Sheeranwala Gate on Circular Road, respectively. The first one will have capacity of 1.2 million gallons of water, and the second system will have a storage capacity of 1.5 million gallons.

Sources have revealed that the authority plans to launch eight more such project in different parts of Lahore. Meanwhile, LDA’s governing body has also approved the plantation of trees at 24 reserved spots in its housing schemes for controlling air pollution in the city. In this regard, the authority allocated PKR 150 million in its annual budget.
