Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has identified several chunks of land in the city for commencing with the plantation of six million saplings – and has forwarded its initial summary report of the said space to the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA), according to news sources.

To this effect, the civic agency has finalised a plan upon receiving the directives of the Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Sardar Usman Buzdar to plant six million saplings in Lahore. The execution of this drive will be supervised by the recently launched ‘Go Green’ mobile application.
Consequently, the PHA will review the proposed land and launch the plantation drive. The spaces suggested by the authority are located in LDA Avenue-I, Raiwind Road, Latif Avenue, Khayaban-e-Firdousi, Naseerabad, Nazriya Pakistan Avenue, Green Town, Faisal Town, Usmani Road, Noor Jehan Road, Muslim Town, Moon Market, Babu Sabu, and Gulshan Ravi.

LDA has also suggested planting saplings along the railway lines, ring road. The vacant state-owned lands of the forest and auqaf departments will also be utilised to increase the green cover in the city.
Meanwhile, the chief minister will lay the foundation stone of the 450-kilometre-long Firdous Market Underpass on April 30. The project is estimated to cost PKR 1.80 billion. Additionally, an underpasses will be constructed on both sides of Ali Zaib Road.
